Traditional Rulers, UPU Visits To Okowa Appropriate, Laudable – Bureau Chief
…Says Gov Oborevwori’s Commitment To Deltans Unity Unwavering
Director General, Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has commended traditional rulers, and the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, under the able leadership of Chief Ese Gam, for their show of love and support for immediate past governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON.
Dr Oghenesivbe made the commendation on Tuesday in Asaba, at a public affairs radio live program, assuring that the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori will continue to do whatever it takes to unite all Deltans, irrespective of political and religious affiliation.

He said Senator Okowa governed the state meritoriously during his eight years tenure as governor, ensured that the rotation of power agreement within the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was not truncated by supporting the incumbent governor, Elder Oborevwori, to emerge as the party’s candidate from Delta Central Senatorial District, and also campaigned vigorously to ensure his landslide victory at the polls in 2023.
The Bureau Chief further stated that there was nothing wrong with the visit of traditional rulers and UPU leaders to Senator Okowa, after his brief interface with officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, pointing out that the overblown N1.3 trillion 13 percent derivation for oil communities goes to no issue, because evidence abound that DESOPADEC initiated and executed so many projects across the three senatorial districts in oil producing communities.
Dr Oghenesivbe advised opposition political parties and their media team to focus on building their unpopular parties in preparation for 2027 general elections, instead of engaging in disinformation, misinformation, spreading fake news and media propaganda that would not yield positive results.
The State Bureau of Communications Director General assured that Okowa’s future political ambition cannot be stopped by his political detractors wishful thinking and baseless allegations, adding that the watertight unity, political partnership and shared vision between the state governor, Elder Oborevwori and Senator Okowa shall continue to wax stronger, and cannot be toiled with by envious political rivals.
“The Immediate past governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, is our national leader, a great leader of our party, PDP. His 8 years tenure was remarkable, and he left enduring legacy behind. We are absolutely proud of him.
“His recent interface with EFCC is a normal procedure based on all kinds of baseless allegations cooked up by his detractors and political rivals, because of their selfish 2027 political interests and ambitions. We are watching them with keen interest.
“It is impossible for N1.3 trillion to be missing in Delta State under Senator Okowa. Absolutely impossible. DESOPADEC initiated and executed several projects which were commissioned in all oil producing communities from 2015 to May 29, 2023. The records are there.
“The fabricators of the alleged missing N1.3 trillion should repent, and fear God. More importantly, neither the EFCC nor any other anti graft agency has made any public statement about missing funds under Okowa’s administration. No Court of competent jurisdiction has found him guilty over financial crimes. And it may never happen.
“In the light of the above, UPU leaders and Traditional Rulers did nothing wrong by visiting our amiable leader, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON. The visits were appropriate, timely and should be commended by all well meaning Deltans. See Isaiah 54 verse 17.
“Okowa is still very much innocent on all allegations, and it is right and proper for all of us to rally round him as our indefatigable former governor. He performed creditably during his 8 years tenure. We are very proud of his integrity and selfless service to humanity.
“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is the state leader of our party, PDP., and as a Justice of the Peace, he shall continue to ensure that our people are united, sustain peaceful coexistence among the people, irrespective of political and religious affiliation. His good governance strides inspires Deltans, and there are more to come.
“Trouble shooters and opposition party media propagandists should repent and join hands with governor Oborevwori to Advance Delta State beyond 2027,” Oghenesivbe said.
