Daughter’s Introduction: Today Is The Happiest Day Of My Life– Prof. Tsetimi
By Daniel Dafe
Jonathan Tsetimi, a Professor of Industrial Mathematics and Vice President, South-South of National Association of Artificial Intelligence Practitioners, NAAIP, has expressed joy over the successful introduction of marriage of his daughter, Oritseweyimi.that held on Saturday, 30th November, 2024, in his residence at Abraka, Delta State.
The don who is also the the Director, Centre for Research and International Programmes, Delta State University, Abraka, spoke to Oasis Magazine exclusively.
He said: “This is my first and only daughter’s introduction ceremony. This is actually my show because after this, the family will take over. According to Itsekiri tradition, the next thing they will do is called Temotsi and after that, the bride will be handed over to the groom and it will be over. But this first one, being the introduction from Itsekiri tradition, it is done by the father and that is why they are here.”
He continued: “I am so happy. I have not been this happy in my life. Seeing my daughter grow up, graduating, getting a job and getting a husband in this Gen-z world is not really easy but I am seeing it and from what my colleagues are telling me, I feel very happy and I am a proud father today.
“The significance of this event is that the girl was asked if she knows the people and she said yes. She was asked if we should accept the drinks and foods brought and for us to continue the merriment? She was asked thrice for emphasis. She agreed by saying yes. So, ordinarily, it is like the marriage because there is now an acceptance. What is closer to it in the English tradition is engagement. So it is like my daughter is engaged to be married.”
He described his in-laws as a smart family.
Meanwhile, the groom’s father, Barrister Amos Urhemesiri OgheneJakpo, also described the day as the happiest day of his life.

His words: “This is my first fruit; my first son. It is God’s doing for a father to see his son growing up to be a man, getting married. It is in fact the happiest thing in my life. I look forward to seeing the work of my hand through him. He is a replica of me and I know that God is going to complete his job by making their marriage perfect and giving them what they need in their lives to make them successful.
He described Weyimi’s family as accommodating and loving.
“The welcome they gave to me cannot be explained. They showed it over and over again that I am welcomed into their family and if I am given a second chance, I will still come back to be linked to their family.
“My wish for them is that God should guide them, bless them and make them greater than who we are over a million times. What they saw their parents doing for them today, my prayer for them is that they are going to be greater than both parents one million times. That is my prayer for them.”
On his part, Rukevwe Amos Oghenejakpo, a pharmacist and also the CEO and Co founder Serome, a micro health insurance company that is bridging the gap between quality health care and patients, said the ceremony was a step Into the future and a milestone for him.
Asked to describe his wife-to-be, he said: “I am speechless when it comes to describing her. She is a wonderful person; a lovely soul.
According to him, he has known her since she was five.
On his wish for the relationship, he said: “I wish it lasts forever.
The elated mother of Oritseweyimi, Mrs Ome Tsetimi who was seen busy attending to guests at the occasion was all smiles when she expressed her unquantifiable joy for the occasion.
Weyimi also spoke to Oasis Magazine.
The bride-to-be, who is an English teacher, a content creator and into creative makeup with her own brand of beauty that produces cosmetics that she believes boost the confidence of people, said: “I will say today is a happy day because there are more happy days coming. It is just the beginning.”
