ACOMIN Project: SIFO, Uwede Task CBOs To Impact On Healthcare Facilities

Communiy Based Organisations implementing activities of a Civil Society Civil Society Organization on Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) in Delta State have been told to be committed to their responsibility of impacting on healthcare facilities.

The ACOMIN Chairman in Delta State, Pastor Greg Sifo and the State Programme Officer, Sir Austen Uwede gave the admonition in Asaba during the monthly coordination meeting for the month of February, which was attended by various Community Based Organisations and State partners.

They said that the essence of the meeting was to review their activities for the past one month in order to evaluate their achievements and challenges and urged them to embrace early submission of quality reports.

Pastor Sifo, specifically noted that apart from impacting on the communities, the capacity of the CBOs had been built in the course of implementing the project through the knowledge they have gained.

Speaking further, Sir Uwede said that the CBOs should articulate and coordinate their reports effectively, adding that any issues that were not discussed in their meetings must not be reported.

While urging the Community Based Organisations to improve on their reporting, the duo appreciated the CBOs and their partners for their efforts in driving the ACOMIN project in the State.

In their separate remarks, the State Malaria Programme Manager, Ministry of Health, Dr.(Mrs.) Julie Aniah , the Director of Partnership and Policy Control, State Action for the Control of HIV/AIDS, Mrs. Grace Sifo , the Supply Chain Specialist from MSH, Mr. Raymond Emeto and the representative of the Society for Family Health, Mrs. Mercy Momoh emphasized the importance of reporting to the stakeholders in the ACOMIN project .

Dr. Aniah implored every individual to drink enough water , exercise themselves and rest well as an antidote to good health.

Momoh reminded the CBOs that without achieving results, it would be taken to mean that they were not impacting on the facilities, adding that when conducting advocacy, they should consider healthcare facilities as their primary target before the community leaders.

On her part, Mrs. Grace Sifo, who recommended capacity building and mentoring for the CBOs particularly in the area of report writing for them to improve on their efficiency in report writing, said that their documentation should be correct to avoid negative recommendations from the global funds whenever they visited the facilities.

The Chief Imam of Federal College of Education (Technical) , Asaba, Dr. Yinusa Adekola expressed the gratitude of the muslim community in Asaba , just as he explained that he had carried out continuous awareness creation about the benefits of the project within the muslin community.
