Akiri In As Functioning PS, Ministries Of Primary And Secondary Education In Delta, As Oghoro Bows Out

A Director of Finance and Accounts, in the Delta State Civil Service, Mr. Daniel Akiri has emerged as Functioning Permanent Secretary, Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education following the retirement of the immediate past Permanent Secretary, Mr. Augustine Oghoro.
Mr. Akiri, who is the Director of Finance and Accounts, Ministry of Secondary Education, doubles as the most senior director in both Ministries.

In a brief handing over ceremony, the outgone Permanent Secretary, Mr. Augustine Oghoro said that his exit from the public service was occasioned by his retirement after 35 years in civil service.
Oghoro thanked the state government for giving him the opportunity to serve, adding that civil service was a place where officers needed to discharge their responsibility with diligence having applied for the job.
He also appreciated the Commissioners and staff of Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education for their unwavering support, urging them to extend similar support to the new Functioning Permanent Secretary.
Oghoro explained that Mr. Akiri had always been acting on his behalf whenever he was not around as the most senior officer in Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education, describing him as a committed, humble and reliable officer, whom he stated was not new to the tasks of a Functioning Permanent Secretary.
Responding, the new Permanent Secretary, Mr. Akiri thanked the retired Permanent Secretary for bringing his wealth of experience to bare on the Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education and the staff in particular, noting that his mentorship was quite enriching.
Akiri solicited the cooperation and support of every officer in the Ministries, urging them that with team work and collective efforts, they would take the Ministries to greater heights just as he informed the outgone Permanent Secretary that they would be consulting him whenever the need arose .
