My Administration Has Implemented Measures To Ensure Effective, Efficient Service Delivery To Students –DELSU VC

The Vice Chancellor of Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU), Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, has said that his administration has implemented measures designed to ensure effective and efficient service delivery to the university’s students.

The Vice Chancellor made this remark during a courtesy visit of the Executives of Bureau of Service Compact (SERVICOM), Delta State on Tuesday, 15th April, 2025.

The Vice Chancellor explained that one of the key initiatives of his administration is the ‘whistle-blowing’ policy, which offers students and staff a channel to report cases of inefficient or unsatisfactory services provided by university personnel.

He also mentioned that plans were in progress to make academic activities in DELSU increasingly technology-driven.

Speaking further, Professor Asagba informed the group that his administration is committed to boosting the university’s internally generated revenue by creating and expanding essential programmes, such as those in the proposed Faculty of Environmental Sciences.

The Vice Chancellor concluded by appealing to the State Governor and Visitor to the university, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to invest in infrastructure development to address the pressing needs caused by inadequate facilities within the university.

Earlier in his presentation, the Senior Policy Adviser to the Governor on SERVICOM and Labour Relations in Delta State, Right Honourable Solomon Funkekeme explained that the visit was for a fact finding mission and also a follow up to an earlier visit in 2024 aimed at assessing the university’s level of compliance with the SERVICOM Charter. This, he noted, is to ensure that services in DELSU align with the Governor’s MORE Agenda.

Rt. Hon. Solomon Funkekeme emphasized that, as Delta State’s premier university, DELSU must uphold its reputation through exemplary service delivery. He later presented SERVICOM materials to the Vice Chancellor.

The Vice Chancellor, in company of some Principal Officers and other staff of the university, later took the visiting team to inspect ongoing projects in the university such as the one kilometer road network that links the College of Health Sciences to the Faculty of Arts, the foundation laying site of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Administrative building, all in Site III of the university.

Those that were present during the visit included the Vice Chancellor of DELSU, Prof Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, Registrar of the University, Mrs Rufina Ufiofio, the University Bursar, Mrs Otimeyin Ekakitie-Omajuwa, the University Librarian, Dr Josephine Eruterio Onohwakpor, Provost of College of Health Sciences, Professor Emmanuel Odokuma, Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies, Professor Sunny Awhefeada, Director of Ceremonials, Information and Public Relations, Professor Enajite Ojaruega, Director of Physical Planning, Engr. Mike Ashafa, among others.

Others on the entourage of the visiting team were the Senior Policy Adviser to the Governor on SERVICOM and Labour Relations, Rt. Hon. Solomon Fukekekme, who led the team, Mrs Uche Onwusanya and Barr. Leonard Azowani who are Director and Assistant Director respectively with SERVICOM and Labour Relations, Robert Igbesoko who is Director, Administration and Ogbonna Okechukwu who is the Technical Assistant to the Senior Political Adviser.
