NFF Denies Owing Late Christian Chukwu
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has strongly denied claims circulating on social media that it owes the late former Super Eagles captain and coach, Christian Chukwu, the sum of $128,000.
Reacting to the allegations, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, clarified that there is no record of any outstanding payments due to Chukwu within the federation.
He emphasized that during the first term of former NFF President Amaju Pinnick, a committee was established to verify and settle all legitimate debts owed to coaches, including those from previous administrations.
“Chairman” Chukwu, who led Nigeria to its first Africa Cup of Nations title in 1980 and later coached the national team, worked with the NFF from 2002 to 2005. He was dismissed following Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with Angola in the World Cup qualifier..

Sanusi reiterated that if any individual has verifiable documentation proving a debt is owed to Chukwu or any other coach from the past two decades, the NFF is prepared to settle such obligations immediately.
Chukwu passed away on Saturday, leaving behind a legacy as one of Nigeria’s football greats.
