Remain In PDP And Retain Your Honour, Francis Atanomeyovwi Tells Gov Oborevwori

Hon (Elder) Chief Francis Atanomeyovwi, immediate past Federal Commissioner, National Assembly Service Commission, Abuja has urged the Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon (Elder) Sheriff Francis Orowhedor Oborevwori to shelve his purported plans to dump the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressive Congress, describing the alleged move as dishonorable step in the path of a successful politician, to whom the PDP has bequeathed so much in his life political journey.

In a statement he personally signed, Chief Atanomeyovwi a former UPU National Treasurer who completed his five years tenure in the National Assembly Service Commission in February 2025, admonished the Governor to retain his honour by staying true to the party that gave him a platform to fulfill his life ambition instead of manifesting desperation for a second term to destroy the PDP, whereas, the APC will not even give him the second term ticket he earnestly seek.

Hear him: ‘’Governor Oborevwori should have a rethink about his purported intention to decamp from his party the PDP, which he has belonged to for over two decades. The party elevated him, given him fame, and played a greater role in making him who he is today. Why should he dump the party when the party has made him and elevated him to a position he never expected. By the grace of God he is today the governor of Delta state. What else does he want in life?

‘’I can tell you prophetically that whatever decision from your mind, from your heart and advisers to cross to the APC to contest for second term, is going to hit bricks wall. It will not be possible. Those who know me for over 50 years now can attest to it. I do not utter words like this always and when I do, they must come to pass. The Governor is my namesake, he is not my friend, and neither is he my enemy. I respect my namesakes all over the world. And as my namesake, I think the best advice I can give to him is to urge him to remain in PDP for the sake of integrity. He is a man who has benefited greatly from the PDP.

‘’If he doubts what I am saying and cross, he will never get the APC ticket to contest for second tenure. That is the grave reality before him. He will be an object of mockery at the end of the day. But if he remains in PDP, whatever the outcome may be, he will retain his honour. The unfortunate thing is that if he decamps to APC, his heart desire will not come to pass. I know strong PDP members who will never follow him to APC. I pray that the spirit of God will speak to him not to make the mistake. Everything about this life is vanity. He should remain where he is and build his party instead of being shoved about by unbridled ambition’’, Chief Atanomeyovwi added.
