Child Abduction Case: Lucky Peter Arraigned, As Jaro Egbo Reiterates Commitment To Justice

Earlier today, Friday, June 13, 2025, Mr. Lucky Peter, the suspect accused of abducting a child from the residence of Mr.and Mrs. Favour at Oveto Street, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, was formally arraigned before the Magistrate Court in Ofuoma town, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

During the court session, the charges were read to the defendant, marking a pivotal step in pursuing justice for the affected family and the broader Ughelli North community.

The arraignment marks a critical milestone in the legal proceedings as efforts to combat rising child abduction cases in the region continue.

Present at the court was the Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government, Olorogun,(Barr) Jaro Movudu Egbo Ksc, who reaffirmed the council’s commitment to justice and law enforcement in the local government.

Speaking to newsmen outside the courtroom, he stated: “I am here today to fulfill the promise I made—to ensure we follow every legal and logical path in seeking justice for victims of child abduction. Our administration is one of law, order, and compassion. We will not relent until justice is served, and let this serve as a deterrent to anyone planning to infringe upon the rights and safety of our children.”

Also speaking, the prosecuting counsel, Mr. S.O. Egedegbe, confirmed that the suspect had been granted bail.

He noted: “The court has granted the defendant bail under specific conditions. If he can meet those conditions, he will remain free until the next court sitting, which has been scheduled for July 15, 2025.”

The suspect will remain in prison until he meets the bail conditions of five million naira and a level sixteen civil servants to sign his bail.

As the case progresses, the eyes of the community remain fixed on the judiciary, hoping for a verdict that will reinforce the rule of law as the courts are the only hope of the common man.
