In a compelling call for moral rejuvenation, His Royal Majesty Evang. Professor Ojakovo Oharisi III, the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, has urged school students to embrace a higher standard of moral and ethical conduct.

Speaking during a one-day student parley held at his palace on Saturday, 7 June 2025, in collaboration with Jodah Praise Foundation, the revered monarch emphasized the urgent need for young people to align their lives with values that promote personal growth, community development, and national unity.

The interactive session, which brought together students from various schools within the Ughelli Kingdom, was a part of the monarch’s broader initiative to mentor the younger generation and instill in them a sense of purpose, discipline, and cultural pride.

HRM Oharisi III, a distinguished academic and spiritual leader, expressed concern over the increasing erosion of values among youths, particularly in the face of modern societal pressures. “Our future leaders must learn to live by principles of honesty, respect, diligence, and responsibility,” he said. “Without strong moral foundations, education alone cannot bring about the positive change we seek in society.”

He challenged the students to be role models among their peers by exhibiting conduct that reflects integrity both in and out of school. “Character,” the monarch noted, “is the true measure of leadership. Your academic success must go hand in hand with good behavior and respect for elders, teachers, and fellow students.”

The parley also featured discussions from the Chairman Governing Council, Delta State College of Health Technology Ofuoma, Dr. Chris Oharisi – Keynote Speaker, Pastor Evans Akpocha – Executive Director, TRENO Rehabilitation Center, and Joseph Edah-Convener and Executive Director Jodah Praise Foundation; on the dangers of cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractice, and other vices that have increasingly threatened the future of Nigerian youth.

The monarch further called on teachers, parents, and community leaders to reinforce value-based education at all levels, stressing that the task of nation-building begins with moral reformation in the home and classroom.

The event concluded with students expressing gratitude for the rare opportunity to engage directly with the traditional ruler. Many of them described the interaction as inspiring and pledged to adopt the lessons shared in their daily lives.
