Reduce Poverty In Urhobo Land, Youth Appeals To Governor Oborevwori In Open Letter

Dear Governor Rt. Hon. Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori ,

I sincerely hope this piece finds you in good spirits.

Your Excellency, I believe you may have heard about the infighting amongst our people, the Urhobos, over Tantita and pipeline surveillance slots.

I must say, just like me, shame has caught up with you since yesterday when our people began disgracing us on Facebook.

Mr. Governor, without mincing words, what is happening amongst the Urhobos on Facebook is caused by poverty.

Yes, the Urhobos are not just poor; we are currently the POOREST ETHNIC GROUP in the state, both in politics and outside politics.

This poverty is responsible for our people, mostly the youths, running to people of other ethnic groups to pledge loyalty to them.

This is why you see more of our people defending people of other ethnic groups in crisis situations, even against our own people and the Urhobo nation.

Your Excellency, there is an absolute need to REDUCE the level of poverty in Urhobo land.

During the just-concluded APC Unity Meetings across the state, the Delta Central (Urhobo) meeting was only able to raise a meager less than 90 million naira, with the highest donor contributing 10 million naira. In contrast, the Delta South meeting raised over 200 million naira, with an Ijaw man purportedly donating 30,000 pounds (over 40 million naira).

Tompolo and other Ijaws made their fortunes under an Ijaw presidency.

I know Itsekiris who became billionaires under a former governor of their ethnic extraction.

Today, as a governor of Urhobo extraction, the future of the Urhobo nation rests solely on you.

My dear Governor, reduce poverty in our land by creating billionaires and millionaires who will, in turn, create more millionaires and billionaires.

Your Excellency, this is the third time I am crying out to you to make billionaires and millionaires of Urhobo extraction.

Please, sir, hear my cry and those of others who are silently crying.
