NBUN: Lobby, Seek Re-Election To Serve Union, Adun Charges Delta Executive

The newly selected officers of the National Butchers Union of Nigeria (NBUN), Delta State chapter have been advised to lobby and seek re-election if they truly desire to serve the union.

The advice was given by the National President of the union and Ayobahan of Benin Kingdom, Chief Osamede John Adun at his residence in Benin City when members of the union approached him concerning the crises rocking the union in Delta State.

The national president berated the caretaker committee chairman , Mr. Oris Akpobi for the prolonged stay
in office and for not involving all members in the activities of the union.

He also condemned his actions on the conduct of elections without the approval of the national body.

According to Chief Adun, “the leadership crisis in the state has lingered for too long, we must find lasting solutions for the union to forge ahead.”

“As the national president, I will use my office to make sure all concerns are finally resolved,” he added.

Chief Osamede Adun also condemned the actions of the purported newly elected Chairman, Mr Peter Onuoha for taking the union to court and for taking part in an election not overseen by the national body.

Meanwhile, the national president has set up a new committee to oversee the affairs of the union and to conduct a new election within three months.

He also advised Michael Diden aka Ejele to stay off from butcher’s union activities to avoid embarrassment from the office of the union president and his boys.

Ejele’s representatives were said to be in attendance at the meeting.

The new committee which has four women is headed by Mrs Bridget to serve prior to the election.

Also, Chief John Okonedo is to oversee all the activities of the committee and report back to the national president of the body.

The meeting was attended by leaders from the South-South, South-West and North-East geopolitical zones of the country.

Attempts to speak with Diden at the time of this report, proved abortive.
