Ogwashi-Uku Land Tussle: IGP, Courts Can’t Do Me Anything, Police Inspector In Delta Boasts

In a scandal rocking Delta State, a serving police officer has openly declared himself above the law, boasting that neither the Inspector General of Police (IGP) nor the courts can control him.

The officer, Inspector Ifechukwude Patrick Enweazu (AP/NO: 323909) of Ogwashi-Uku Area Command, was caught in explosive voice notes circulated on community platforms, where he mocked lawful authority while mobilising thugs to disrupt a court-ordered land possession.

Court Judgment vs. Police Lawlessness
After a four-year legal battle, the Delta State High Court issued a judgment in favour of the traditional ruler of Ogwashi-Uku over vast lands behind the Delta State Polytechnic. The court registrar, Deputy Director R.I. Osemeke, formally wrote to the IGP on 17th July, 2025, requesting police protection for bailiffs.

The IGP, through the DIG Operations, approved security for the execution. The Delta State Commissioner of Police, via the legal department, also confirmed the judgment and duly mobilised officers for enforcement.

But in a shocking turn, Inspector Enweazu, who was implicated in illegal land sales of over 100 plots in the disputed area — staged a counter-protest, declaring that he would never obey the IGP or any court.

Land Racketeering and Firearms Charges
Enweazu’s brother, Onyeunor Enweazu, and two accomplices — Okondu Andrew and Joseph Dieye — are already in the dock on charges of illegal possession of firearms, forcible entry, and malicious damage (Charge No. O/18C/2025). The trio were arrested by officers of the SACU unit in Delta while brandishing guns, police uniforms, and bullet-proof vests allegedly supplied by Inspector Enweazu himself. They are accused of violently chasing people off the land granted by the court to the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku.

Community Living in Fear
Locals say the Inspector has turned into a law unto himself, parading as a “high chief” while cruising the community, intimidating residents, and stirring unrest.

One resident lamented:
“We are living in fear. He boasts that not even the IGP can stop him. We need urgent intervention before lives are lost.”
The community has now issued a desperate appeal to the IGP and Delta State Police Command to rein in Enweazu before the situation spirals into full-blown anarchy.
