Okowa: Tinubu Restoring Stability, Rebuilding Hope For Nigeria

Former Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is restoring stability and hope to Nigeria through bold reforms and decisive leadership.

Speaking in Abuja at a national summit organised by the Integrity Group of Nigeria (IGN), themed “Renewed Hope Agenda through Continuity,” Okowa represented by his former Special Adviser on National Assembly and Inter-Governmental Relationships, Pascal Adigwe described Tinubu as an “action president” who has accepted responsibility for the nation’s challenges.

“Tinubu’s decisions might be tough or rough, but they are yielding positive results. He is bringing stability. He’s bringing back hope. He’s taking the bull by the horn. He promised Nigeria that he would take responsibility, and that is exactly what he has done,” Okowa said.

The former governor declared his support for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, stressing that continuity was necessary for Nigerians to fully benefit from his policies. “We have come, not with liability but assets to make what you have built better. We are coming with our experience, our knowledge of the terrain, our love and resources to better the lot,” he added.

Director General of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Dr. Umar Tanko Yakasai, assured citizens that the President’s economic reforms were stabilising and growing the nation’s economy.

“I want to assure you that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working hard. In terms of the economy, the President is doing very well. First of all, he is working towards economic growth. Today, the federal and state governments are paying salaries regularly, and allocations to states have expanded, allowing them to also clear debts,” Yakasai said.

He further explained that the administration had introduced a transparent foreign exchange system, eliminating sharp practices in dollar allocations and fuel importation. “Nobody is going to sell dollars and then go back to collect again and cheat the country. That era is gone. Nobody is importing one litre and collecting dollars for one million litres. It’s gone. Because of this, savings have been made, and over $7 billion of external debt has been cleared,” he stated.

According to him, Nigeria’s foreign reserves have risen significantly while trade surpluses have generated trillions of naira, boosting fiscal capacity. “The total reserve of this country has risen to $140 billion. We have had over ₦6 to ₦7 trillion in trade surplus that has been spent. The GDP has grown, and the money going to the states has expanded. In many states, they are now able to pay salaries and debts. Over ₦200 billion in debts have been paid by states,” he said.

On the welfare of citizens, the DG acknowledged lingering concerns about poverty and high food prices but insisted that government policies were addressing these challenges. “Yes, there are complaints about hardship, but food prices are beginning to come down, as they are supposed to. What is happening is economic stabilisation, and the next stage is growth. Nigerians must be patient because these reforms will create long-term prosperity,” he said.

Convener and National Chairman of the IGN, Dr. Oke Idawene, also praised Tinubu’s performance, saying he came into office prepared.

“Never again shall we allow those who are stealing Nigeria’s prosperity to lead us. Today, students have access to loans, security is improving, and progressive governors are already preparing the ground for Tinubu’s 2027 victory,” Idawene stated.

Also, the Governing Council Board Member of the National Mathematical Center, Hon. Kovie Andrew Epetutu, called on Nigerians to rally behind the President, stressing that his administration had shown genuine commitment to repositioning the country for progress.

“We are an integrity group. We are gathered here to tell Nigerians that Tinubu means well for Nigeria. He came prepared for leadership,” Epetutu said.

Sen Binta Garba noted that President Tinubu inherited a troubled economy but had taken decisive steps to turn things around.

“When Tinubu came on board, things were not moving well for the country, but he has changed the narrative. Continuity will make Nigeria a better country,” she said.

Former Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, urged Nigerians to pray for and support the President, pointing to recent APC by-election victories and Nigerian girls’ exploits in sports as signs of progress.

“Tinubu has shown courage and focus. What we owe him now is prayers and unwavering support, because what he is doing will reposition Nigeria for greatness,” Tallen said.

Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Prof. Nora Daduut, commended the Integrity Group for organising the summit.

She also called on women across the country to sustain the renewed hope initiative. “This is the time for women to stand firm and support the President’s vision. The renewed hope agenda must be kept alive,” she said.
