Bring Itsekiri Youths To Book, Odion Urhobo Community Urges Oborevwori

The people of Odion Urhobo Community in Warri South Local Government Area have called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to bring the Itsekiri youths who were described as militants to book who attacked them during the annual serving of their deities and ancestors on Saturday, 27th September, 2025.

This was contained in a statement issued by High Chief Onoriode Okoh (Community Leader), Chief Omorde Iyara (Secretary Oghwuvwie-In-Council) and Comrade Efe Odili ( former Community Youth Chairman).

The statement gave a narrative of the unprovoked attracts on the Odion Urhobo people by the Itsekiri militants that led to the killing of Mr Jerry Aduara, a two time former chairman of the community and a member of Warri South Local Government Council Peace Committee and injury of scores indigenes of the community on that fateful day.

The statement recalled that the Saturday 27th attack was one of the numerous attacks on the Odion Urhobo Community by the Itsekiri militants and that they have tried to live in peace with their neighbors in Odion Itsekiri like their ( Odion Urhobo) fore fathers did to no avail.

The statement disclosed that the earlier attack on the community on the eve of the serving of their deities and ancestors, where the community’s ancestral artifacts were carted away by the Itsekiri militants was duly reported to the relevant security authorities and that they did not get any response.

The statement identified a particular Itsekiri youth who shot at the late Mr Jerry Aduara and the cohorts of the said Itsekiri militants who shot at Odion Urhobo people sporadically.

The statement also listed names of other Odion Urhobo people that sustained injuries during the attack of the Itsekiri militants to include: Pascal Omojevwe Okoh, Omoghene Daniel, Ahmed Mufu, Jacob Ighorue, Chisomu Emmanuel, Onoriode Jemite , Brume Ofomor , Collins Akokporo , Prince Owivri, Paul Emeavwosuro among others.

‘From the above, we are calling on all relevant authorities, particularly the Delta State Governor, His Excellency Rt Hon Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori to use his good office as the Chief Security Officer of the state to bring these Itsekiri militants to book and stop any further attack on the peace loving people of Odion Urhobo Community of Okere Urhobo Kingdom Warri,” the statement added.
