Ekabo Pays Congratulatory Visit To DELSU VC, Asagba

The Episcopal Vicar for Politics, Public Relations and Government Affairs, Catholic Diocese of Warri, and Executive Secretary, Delta State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Rev. Fr. Dr. Christopher Ekabo (JP), on Friday, September 19, 2025, paid a congratulatory visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Prof. Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, following his assumption of office as the 8th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

Fr. Ekabo, who was accompanied by the Principal of St. George’s College, Obinomba, Rev. Fr. Anselm Okafor, lauded Prof. Asagba, a Professor of Environmental Biochemistry and Toxicology, for his visionary leadership, which he said would further reposition the University for greater excellence. He described the Vice-Chancellor’s emergence on December 1, 2024, as a divine arrangement and expressed confidence that his tenure would usher in innovation, inclusiveness, and academic breakthroughs. He also urged the VC to extend appreciation to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his continued support to the Church and the people of Delta State.

In his response, Prof. Asagba commiserated with Fr. Ekabo on the recent passing of his elder sister, Mrs. Martina Ekugbere Naweri (née Ekabo), and congratulated him on the occasion of his 27th priestly ordination anniversary. He expressed deep appreciation for the visit and goodwill, assuring that his administration remains committed to advancing academic excellence, staff welfare, student development, and infrastructural growth in DELSU.

The Vice-Chancellor further called for sustained prayers, collaboration, and stakeholder support to enable the University to attain greater heights.

The visit was marked by special prayers in an atmosphere of warmth and mutual respect, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to the progress of DELSU and the wider Delta State.
