Orhoakpo Community Agog, As Pius Emerges PG, Assures Transparency

The people of the oil reach Orhoakpo community in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State were in joyous mode over the weekend as Okakuro Pius Onotasamiderhi Erakpoweri emerged the President General (PG), of the community in a peaceful election held at the community town hall.
The election was witnessed by government officials from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Community Development ably led by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Oghenekevwe Ovie Agas respectively.
The ever peaceful election which saw Chief Pius Onotasamiderhi Erakpoweri as the PG of the community commenced with proper accreditation of delegates carefully selected from each of the 19 branches of the community across the state.
However, the position of the President General was contested by Chief Pius Erakpoweri Onotasamiderhi and Chief Monday Otah, while Chief Pius Onotasamiderhi scored 62 votes to defeat his opponent Chief Monday Otah who scored 31 votes out of the total vote of 95 respectively The position of the Vice President General (VP), was won by Mr. Kingsley 1. with 61 votes to defeat his opponent Ode Oghenevwede who scored 24 votes. The Deputy Vice PG, (DPV), was won by Chief Dr. Emoefe Okpimah with 61 votes to defeat Chief Stephen Ejovi who pulled 32 votes. The Secretary position was won by Dr. Michael Oghenevovwero with 57 votes against Udaya who pulled 29 votes.
Others are, Assistant Secretary- Chief Ekarume with 59 votes who defeated Mr. Michael and Esegine who scored 12 and 10 votes respectively. Chief Peter A emerged the treasurer with 62 votes, defeating Mr. Jonathan with 15 votes. The position of financial secretary was clichéd by Mr. Saturday Esagbodje, as Macpherson Abdu emerged the Legal Adviser who were returned unopposed.
Others who were elected include Chief Esther Umukoro as woman leader with 55 votes against Mrs. Queen who polled 23 votes. The position of PRO went to Chief Okoro Godspower who with 45 votes defeated Engr. Istreal Otuenu who garnered 31 votes while the Auditor office went to Samson Eshare who with 62 votes defeated Eruse Richard who scored 17 votes. Mr. Sunday Ighedo won the position of Organizing Secretary with 51 votes against Chief Agbon Imere with 26 votes, while Oghenemine Ejuvwewo clinched the position of Provost with 55 votes to defeat Mr. Henry Okpako who scored 16 votes respectively.

Announcing the victory of Chief Pius Onotasamiderhi as the President General and other exco members who won alongside, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Chief Ibiaku Benson, described the election as free and fair, just as he called on contestants who did not scale through to consider their defeat as the will of God, adding that elections are not a do or die affair, but a call to serve.
However, in a related development, the elected Exco headed by Chief Pius Onotasamiderhi were automatically sworn-in by Ibiaku Benson to pilot the affairs of the community for the next four years.
In his acceptance speech, the new President General assured the people of a transparent government, calling on the outgone executive to work with his administration for the growth and progress of Orhoakpor community.
Speaking further, Chief Pius Onotasamiderhi also commended the efforts of the officials of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Community Development ably led by Mrs. Oghenekevwe Agas, noting that they ensured a free and fair election.
