Orosuen Hosts General Conference For Okere Urhobo Kindred Family

The Orosuen (traditional ruler) of Okere Urhobo Kingdom in Warri South Local Government Area, HRM Dr Morris Ogheneochuko Eyekpimi- Egboboyen Owhotemu 11 has hosted a annual two day general conference for the kindred family of Olodi / Oki / Ighogbadu in Warri on Friday, 19th September, 2025.

The highly esteemed traditional ruler in his thoughts provoking address, explained that the conference was necessitated by the need to resolve issues on the family properties such as unauthorized sales of land, court and police cases in order for the family to be united and live in peace , unity and progress.

To this end, he disclosed that a technical committee that later metamorphosed to a planning committee was set up to look into the said issues arising from the 2013/2019 amended instruments on the kindred family properties at the conference.

He also disclosed that the committee has a draft that will be critical be disclosed and ratified at day two of the conference and that will be signed as a working document on the family’s properties, expressing optimism that this will put an end to issues confronting the family on the said properties.

The Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom who hails from the Ighogbadu Ruling of House of Okere Urhobo Kingdom also decreed that the conference shall be an annual event.

He had earlier stated that God has favoured the Okere Urhobo kindred Family with the said properties and therefore stated that the properties should not cause division among the family or be the cause of disunity in the family.

The ancestral head of the kindred family is the legendary Okpeki who begat Idama, Sowhorhovwe and Owhotemu. These three brothers in turn begat Olodi Oki and Ighogbadu families.

There were goodwill messages from Olodi, Oki and Ighogbadu families at the historic event.

Chief Emmanuel Eboh , Chief Edward Oki and High Chief Onoriode Okoh spoke on behalf of the Olodis, Okis and Ighogbadus respectively as they preached peace, love and unity among the famous Okere Urhobo Kindred Family.

High point of the annual general conference was the formal presentation of the draft on the 2013/ 2019 amended instruments by the head of the technical/ planning committee, Chief Emmanuel Omovie, a lawyer to the Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom.

An eminent personality in Okere Urhobo Kingdom, Chief Victor Okumagba who is a member of the committee,
affirmed that day two of the general conference will be a discussion on the draft and therefore urged the Olodis, Okis and Ighogbadus to send their full delegates to the conference. He also extended the call to observers.

It was a full house as the sensensional emah (royal) dance group of Warri Urhobos entertained the traditional ruler and guests to their satisfaction.

A former President of Okere Urhobo Development Movement, Comrade Cyril Eboh who spoke to our correspondent in a media chat shortly after the event, remarked that the conference was a welcome development.

He also expressed gratitude to God for the huge success of the general conference so far.

The President General of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, Chief Femi Okumagba spoke in the same vein as he praised the traditional ruler for his initiative.
