2025 Word Food Day: Ukwuani Clinches Second Position
Ukwuani Local Government Area has emerged 2nd position in poultry farming during the 2025 World Food Day celebration held 16th October at the Cenotaph in Asaba.
The ceremony featured the exhibition of Diverse farm produce realised from poultry farm,Agro faming, fisheries and other types of farming system.
In his welcome remarks, the Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr.Kingsly Ashibogwu who represented the state governor, Rt Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, said the MORE Agenda places priority on Agricultural and Industrialization, stressing that the Delta State government is taking a decisive step in empowering farmers vis a vis producing inputs, extension service and access to finance to make agriculture profitable and attractive especially to the youths.
To further buttress the importance of Agriculture in the state, the Commissioner for Agriculture Engr. Ada Val Areyenka stated that World Food day is a day set aside every year usually, the 16th of October to reflect on the effect of poultry and hunger in the state, hence the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FOA) is at the forefront of international efforts to combat poverty and battle hunger across the globe particularly in developing countries.

In his own capacity, the Supervisor for Agriculture, Mr Jeffery Opone, highlighted the challenges of farmers to include flood and herdsmen issues, while commending the Ukwuani local government Chairman, Hon. Barr. Possible Ajede for demonstrating his strong determination through the ‘Do MORE Agenda to reposition the Agricultural Sector, making it a key driver of growth to address the issue of hunger and development in the local government area.
“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Ukwuani Local Government Chairman, Hon Barr. C. S Possible Ajede for making it possible for Ukwuani to be part of the 2025 World Food Day celebration,” he said.
