South African Ambassador To France Found Dead In Paris

Nkosinathi Emmanuel “Nathi” Mthethwa, South Africa’s ambassador to France, was discovered deceased outside the Hyatt Regency hotel in western Paris on Tuesday, the local prosecutor’s office confirmed.

Mthethwa, aged 58, had been serving as ambassador since his appointment.

Sources said he was reported missing by his wife, adding that she received a message in which he apologised and expressed an intent to take his own life.

Hours later, Mthethwa fell off from the hotel window. His body was discovered at the foot of the Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile Hotel, where he was staying.

According to the prosecutors’ statement, investigators found that a window safety mechanism in his hotel room had been forced open.

The ambassador was a pro Palestine supporter. A lot of videos of him speaking in support of the state of Palestine is in the media.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances of his death.
