Akpojovwo Laments Non-Recognition Of Nigerian Legion By Some LGC Chairmen

Uvwie born newly inaugurated Delta State Chairman of the Delta State Council of the Nigerian Legion, Chief Roberts Ekemejewa Akpojovwo, has lamented the non-recognition of Nigerian Legion by most chairmen of local government councils in Delta State.

The respected Uvwie chief made the lamentation in an exclusive media chat with our correspondent while fielding questions on his election as the new chairman of the group at his residence in Effurun Uvwie Local Government Area on Tuesday, 4th November, 2025.

He called on all local government council chairmen in the twenty – five local government councils in Delta State to build a monument of the unknown soldiers in their respective local government areas and to also properly celebrated the Armed Forces Remembrance Day and that the emblem of the unknown soldiers should be worn by all Nigerians in honour of those who sacrificed their lives for the unity of Nigeria.

He was full of praises for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for their proper celebration of Arm Forces Remembrance Day annually “So local government council chairmen should emulate President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori since they are the patrons of the legion in their respective local government area.

Akpojovwo who until his election, was the Chairman of Nigerian Legion, Uvwie Local Government Area Council, had earlier vowed to improve on the lives of members of the legion in the state and to also take the legion to greater heights ” to the benefit of wives and children of departed colleagues who sacrificed their lives for the unity of our dear country Nigeria and to all legionians some of whom are too fragile to earn a living for themselves owing to old age.

Akpojovwo who is the incumbent 1st Vice National Vice President of Uvwie General Improvement Union ( UGIU) also used the opportunity to appreciate members of the legion in the for voting for him overwhelmingly as their chairman .
