Community Newspaper Publishers Visit Olorogun Jaro Egbo, Hail His Developmental Strides

The Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council, Delta State, Olorogun Barr. Jaro Movudu Egbo KSC, on Tuesday received a delegation of selected community newspaper publishers in the state at his office for an official courtesy visit.

The visitors were led by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Community Newspapers, Hon Prince Orhomonokpaye.

Speaking during the visit, Orhomonokpaye said the visit was primarily to commend the council boss for his outstanding accomplishments in office and to establish a partnership with him.

He highlighted the developmental progress achieved by the council chairman.

Furthermore, he disclosed to the chairman that he, alongside some other chairmen, have been nominated to receive an Award of Excellence in 2026, adding that the event will hold at Asaba.

In his words, “this recognition is in acknowledgment of his status as one of the best-performing Council Chairmen in the state.”

“The award will be presented at our upcoming program scheduled for February 2026,” he said.

Hon Prince stated that the selected Council Chairmen, chosen by the group, are individuals who have demonstrated the ability to replicate Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE AGENDA within their respective local government areas.

In response, Barr Egbo expressed gratitude to the group for their visit and praised the publishers for their commendable work in disseminating information to the general public through their print and online media platforms, advising them to maintain their good track record.

The council boss urged the group to maintain professionalism in their reporting and to act as agents of change within their society.

He further emphasized that many individuals accept information without proper verification and encouraged them to develop the skill of effective reporting that aligns with factual accuracy.

The chairman encouraged the visitors to feel at liberty to visit his office whenever they require information about the government of Ughelli North.

He emphasized the significance of verifying information prior to its dissemination, just as he pledged to collaborate with them by engaging with various newspaper outlets concurrently as his administration advances.

The visit was marked by the presentation of various community newspapers to the council chairman. Subsequently, they proceeded to inspect some of the ongoing projects overseen by the Chairman.
