Delta NUJ Congratulates Engr. Matthew Tonlagha, As He Clocks 50

The statement continued: “Today, we celebrate not just the attainment of 50 fruitful years, but the life of a man whose actions consistently reflect the core values of the NUJ, service to humanity, commitment to truth, national development, and the promotion of societal good.
“At 50, Engr. Tonlagha stands tall as an exemplary leader of vision, integrity, and uncommon humility.
“His life and career have been defined by resilience, professionalism, and a commitment to uplifting people and institutions. These virtues resonate strongly with the NUJ creed, which places premium value on responsibility, public interest, and ethical leadership.”
Furthermore, Delta NUJ, said: “As a development-driven professional, Engr. Matthew Tonlagha has continued to deploy his influence and resources in advancing meaningful causes that strengthen institutions and empower communities. Of particular note is his instrumental role in facilitating the construction of a fully equipped NUJ Secretariat Building in Warri through Tantita Security Services Limited. This landmark intervention has significantly enhanced the operational capacity, welfare, and professional environment of journalists in Delta State, especially those within the Warri axis.
“This singular contribution stands as a testament to his belief in a strong media as a cornerstone of democracy, accountability, and good governance. It also underscores his deep appreciation of the press as a partner in nation-building.”
Continuing, the union said “Engr. Tonlagha’s compassion, generosity, and uncommon passion for progress have earned him admiration across professional, social, and political divides. Indeed, his journey so far speaks eloquently of purposeful leadership and selfless service, values the NUJ holds dear.”
The NUJ Delta State Council prayed that the Almighty God grants him sound health, renewed strength, divine wisdom, and greater opportunities to impact humanity in even more profound ways.
“Once again, happy 50th birthday to a dependable friend of the media and a true champion of development,” the statement concluded.
