Police Arrest Suspected Armed Robber, Recover Locally Made Pistol In Ozoro

“The Delta State Police Command, under the command of CP Aina Adesola, has recorded another operational breakthrough in its sustained offensive against violent crime with the arrest of a suspected armed robber and the recovery of an illegal firearm in Ozoro.”

Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, Asaba, said this in a statement on Thursday.

He said: “On 9 February 2026, at about 1400 hours, operatives attached to Ozoro Division, while on a proactive township patrol along Hospital Road, Ozoro, arrested one Friday Oghenemaro, a male aged 26yrs. A search conducted on the suspect resulted in the recovery of a locally made Beretta pistol. The Suspect who was in company of two other suspects was arrested and taken into custody. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is a member of Aye confratanity and was in possession of the gun because he was a member of the cult group. He also stated that he has been in possession of the gun since his secondary school days. Investigation is ongoing.”

Adding: “The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, commends the officers for their vigilance and professionalism. He reiterates that the Command will continue to intensify visibility policing, intelligence-driven operations, and targeted patrols to deny criminal elements the opportunity to operate within the State.”

“Also, members of the public are urged to remain law-abiding and to provide credible and timely information to the Police, as collective cooperation remains critical in sustaining peace and security across Delta State,” he concluded.
