VC Hails Nigerian Army For Their Sacrifice As 181 Battalion Commander Visits DELSU

Vice Chancellor of Delta State University (DELSU), Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, has commended the personnel of the Nigerian Army for their immense sacrifices in service to the nation.

Professor Asagba gave the commendation during a recent courtesy visit by the Commander of the 181 Amphibious Battalion of the Nigerian Army, Agbor, Lieutenant Colonel N. P. Ochasi.

He further noted that the Nigerian Army continues to play a vital role in addressing the prevailing security challenges in the country.

The Vice-Chancellor further observed that some peculiar factors have made Abraka susceptible to criminal activities but expressed confidence in the Army’s capacity to effectively contain the situation.

In conclusion, Professor Asagba appealed for increased deployment of personnel from the 181 Amphibious Battalion to Abraka and its environs to enhance security in the area.

Earlier in his remarks, the Commander of the 181 Amphibious Battalion of the Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel N. P. Ochasi, stated that he and his team were on a courtesy visit to familiarise themselves with the university environment.

He informed the Vice Chancellor that the purpose of the visit was also to obtain first-hand information on the security challenges facing the institution and its environs.

Lieutenant Colonel Ochasi concluded by noting that the visit was intended to identify areas of collaboration between the University and the 181 Amphibious Battalion of the Nigerian Army in order to prevent any potential security breaches.

Dignitaries present during the visit included Vice Chancellor of DELSU, Prof Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Edmund Aviedo Atakpo, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Hilary Ijeoma Owamah, the University Registrar, Mrs Rufina Ufiofio, the University Bursar, Mrs Otimeyin Ekakitie-Omajuwa, Deputy Registrar in the Vice Chancellor’s Office, Mrs Ejiro Etobro, the University Public Relations Officer, Mr Henry Eseka, DELSU Chief Security Adviser, Deputy Superintendent of Police Michael Taga (Rtd), DELSU Chief Security Officer, Flight Lieutenant Ifeanyi Odita (Rtd) and Personal Assistant to the Vice Chancellor, Mr Efe Enite. Others were the Commander of the 181 Amphibious Battalion of the Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel N. P. Ochasi, Major A. Kabir, Lieutenant S. P. Ephram and others.
