DELSU Welcomes PCN Accreditation And Resource Verification Teams, As VC Calls For Harnessing Nation’s Diversity

Vice Chancellor of Delta State University (DELSU), Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, has called for harnessing of Nigeria’s cultural and human resource diversities describing them as assets that are capable of accelerating the nation’s development.

Professor Asagba made the call during the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria’s (PCN) visit to DELSU for both accreditation of the existing Pharmacy programme and resource verification for the commencement of Doctor of Pharmacy (D. Pharm) programme, on Thursday, 9th April, 2026, at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room, Site II, DELSU, Abraka.

He told the visiting teams that the accreditation and resource verification exercises have brought together experts from various subfields within the field of pharmacy.

He called this diversity a blessing which ought to be the strength of the nation.

Professor Asagba cited how countries like the United States of America and South Africa are leveraging their diversities turning them into catalysts for national development.

Professor Asagba, also expressed his appreciation to the PCN teams for the visits, informing the visitors of the University’s readiness for the exercises.

Leader of the PCN Accreditation and Resource Verification teams, Professor M. Sule, earlier in his speech expressed appreciation to the Vice Chancellor for the warm reception accorded them since arrival at Asaba Airport in Delta State.

He also explained that their mission was for the accreditation of the existing pharmacy programme and the resource verification of the D. Pharm programme in the University.

He added that the teams came to look at the university’s facilities and other resources for both programmes.

Professor Sule concluded by stating that the teams would do their assignment to the best of their abilities.

Also speaking, Registrar of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN), Pharmacist Ibrahim Babashehu Ahmed, commended DELSU for being the first state university in Nigeria to commence the D. Pharm programme.

Represented by Dr Anthony Idoko who is a Director of PCN, Pharmacist Ahmed further assured DELSU that the exercises were to better the training of pharmacy students in the University.

Director, Academic Planning, Professor Felix Oghenemaro Enwa, in his speech, thanked the PCN teams for coming to DELSU for the accreditation and resource verification assignments.

Professor Enwa went on to inform the visitors of the itinerary for both exercises in the Faculty of Pharmacy.

Those present during the brief visit included Vice Chancellor of DELSU, Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Hilary Ijeoma Owamah, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Douglason Omotor, the University Registrar, Mrs Rufina Ufiofio, the University Bursar, Mrs Otimeyin Ekakitie-Omajuwa, the University Librarian, Dr (Mrs) Josephine Onohwakpor, Director of Academic Planning, Professor Felix Oghenemaro Enwa, Director of Ceremonials, Information and Public Relations, Professor (Mrs) Enajite Ojaruega, Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Professor David Adje, Deputy Director of Academic Planning, Dr (Mrs) Theresa Ezedom, Deputy Director of Ceremonials, Information and Public Relations, Dr Ese Umukoro, Associate Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr Chris Alalor and Head of Clinical Pharmacy Department, Dr Aghogho Oghenero.

Others are Head of Pharmacology Department, Dr Nwnefulu, Head of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department, Dr Onyeloni Sunday, Head of Pharmaceutical Microbiology Department, Dr Ejiro Dowe, Head of Pharmacognosy and Traditional Medicine Department, Dr Kolapo Adeleke, Head of Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy Department, Dr Okafor Sinodu. Others were Deputy Registrar in the Vice Chancellor’s Office, Mrs Ejiro Etobro, Principal Assistant Registrar in the Directorate of Academic Planning, Mr Ernest Ojaide, and the University Public Relations Officer, Mr Henry Eseka.

In the PCN resource verification team were Professor M. Sule who led the team, Dr Anthony Idoko, PCN Director, Pharm (Professor) Catherine Stanley, Professor P. T. Osahon, Pharm Azeeh Maude, PCN Director and Pharm Agbomma Igbokwe.
