Kemi Olunloyo Reacts To Ambassadorial Appointments, Mourns Mohammed Lele

Journalist and media personality, Kemi Olunloyo has reacted to recent diplomatic developments, expressing concern over Nigeria’s ambassadorial appointments while mourning the reported death of Mohammed Lele, the newly appointed ambassador to Algeria.

In a post shared on social media, Olunloyo said she had previously appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint her as Nigeria’s ambassador to the United States, stating that she could help strengthen bilateral relations, restore Nigeria’s image abroad, and address travel ban concerns.

She lamented that her appeal was ignored, referencing the reported passing of Mohammed Lele, who was recently named ambassador to Algeria but reportedly died after a protracted illness in Turkey before fully assuming the diplomatic role.

Olunloyo also questioned the health status of some political appointees, noting that the late diplomat reportedly sought treatment abroad rather than in Nigeria, which she said raises concerns about the condition of public office holders entrusted with key national assignments.

She ended her remarks by praying for the repose of the deceased and again jokingly asking President Tinubu when she would be posted to Algiers.
