…Assures Residents Of Sustained Efforts To Rescue Victims, Bring Perpetrators To Justice

The Executive Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. C.S. Possible Ajede (PhD), has intensified security measures across the council area following recent kidnapping incidents, assuring residents that decisive steps are being taken to restore peace and ensure the safe recovery of victims.

As part of efforts to tackle the growing security concerns, Ajede on Saturday convened a strategic security meeting involving all security agencies operating within the local government area. The meeting focused on reviewing the security situation and developing coordinated strategies to curb criminal activities, particularly kidnapping.

Following the meeting, the council chairman embarked on visits to Ebedei and Obinomba communities, where he engaged traditional rulers and community leaders, including the Onotu Uku of Obi-Iloh, Chief Fredrick Onowu Odagwe; the Onotu Uku of Ekpemili, Chief Nelson Ekete; and the next to the Onotu Uku of Obinomba, Chief Asogu Progress.

During the engagements, Ajede emphasized the importance of collaboration between local communities and security agencies in addressing security challenges. He appealed to traditional rulers and community leaders to support ongoing efforts by providing credible and timely intelligence that would aid the identification and arrest of those responsible for the recent abductions and other criminal activities.

The chairman stressed that security remains a collective responsibility, noting that effective community participation is essential to the success of law enforcement operations. He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the appropriate authorities.

Ajede issued a strong warning to individuals involved in kidnapping and other criminal acts, stating that his administration would not tolerate any form of insecurity. He assured residents that all those found culpable would be apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

He also called on landlords across Ukwuani to exercise due diligence when renting out properties, warning that anyone found harbouring or providing shelter for criminals would face legal consequences.

According to him, the security initiatives being implemented are part of a comprehensive and long-term strategy aimed at safeguarding lives and property throughout the local government area.

Expressing sympathy to the families of the kidnapped victims, Ajede assured them that security agencies, with the support of local communities, would continue to intensify efforts to secure the release of those in captivity and bring the perpetrators to justice.

He further charged the police and other security agencies to sustain and strengthen ongoing operations across the council area to ensure that criminal elements have no safe haven in Ukwuani.

Responding, the community leaders commended the council chairman for his swift intervention and proactive leadership. They pledged their full cooperation with security agencies and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting efforts aimed at restoring peace and holding those responsible for the crimes accountable.
