Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom Mourns Death Of Prince Ikechukwu Okonjo
The Palace of His Royal Majesty, Obi of Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom, has announced the passing of Prince Ikechukwu Okonjo, a prominent member of the Umu Obi Obahai Royal Family.
According to a statement issued by the Palace Secretary, Prince Ifeakanachukwu Emordi, on behalf of His Royal Majesty, Obi (Dr.) Ifechukwude Aninshi Okonjo II, Prince Ikechukwu Okonjo passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
The late prince was described as a devoted husband, loving father, cherished brother and dedicated uncle whose life was deeply rooted in the history, dignity and traditions of the Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom.
The palace noted that his death has left a significant void within the royal family and the wider community, adding that his memory would continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Prince Ikechukwu Okonjo is survived by his wife, daughter, brothers, sisters and other extended family members.
The Obi of Ogwashi-Uku extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, assuring them of the support and solidarity of the Royal Family and the entire Ogwashi-Uku community during this period of mourning.

The palace also called on indigenes of the kingdom, both at home and in the diaspora, to keep the family in their prayers as they navigate the difficult loss.
It stated that details of the burial arrangements would be announced at a later date.
