“We Do Not Have Any Such Chief in Our Kingdom” — Ovie Of Idjerhe Reacts To Reports On Igho America Israel
JESSE — The Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, King Monday Obukohwo Whiskey, PhD, JP, Udurhie I, has distanced the kingdom’s traditional institution from Chief Igho America Israel, the man recently sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for allegedly staging his own kidnap in a bid to extort money from his wife and relatives.
The monarch spoke to Oasis Magazine in a telephone conversation on Saturday evening.
Reacting to reports originating from a Facebook page, Sapele Gbwa Gbwa, which described the convict as a community chief in Jesse but did not specify the kingdom, the monarch stated that no such person is recognized as a chief within the traditional hierarchy of Idjerhe Kingdom.
“We do not have any such chief in Idjerhe Kingdom,” the Ovie declared, stressing that the kingdom maintains a well-established and documented chieftaincy structure, and that all legitimate title holders are known to the palace.
According to him, Chief Igho America Israel is not among the recognized chiefs of Idjerhe Kingdom.
The clarification follows widespread reports of the conviction of Israel, who was found guilty by a court after investigations revealed that he allegedly masterminded his own abduction, hid in a hotel, and coordinated ransom demands aimed at extorting money from his wife and relatives.
