Delta Police Arrest Two, Recover Beretta Pistols, Cocaine, Mercedes-Benz SUV
The Delta State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its fight against crime with the arrest of two suspected criminals and the recovery of two Beretta pistols, live ammunition, suspected cocaine, a Mercedes-Benz SUV, and other incriminating items during a stop-and-search operation along the Agbarho–Warri Road.
The operation, carried out by operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol on July 25, 2026, led to the arrest of Omini Ezeri (46) and Chinedum Wagbara (42), both residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The suspects were intercepted while travelling in a grey Mercedes-Benz ML SUV with registration number AAA 604 JZ.
According to the Police, a third occupant of the vehicle, identified as God Knows Ifreke, fled into a nearby swamp during preliminary interrogation and is currently at large.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of two locally fabricated Beretta pistols loaded with nine rounds of live ammunition, about 200 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine, one walkie-talkie, one dagger, one grinder, and two sophisticated mobile phones.
The suspects are currently in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and conclude investigations.
Commending the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to making Delta State a hostile environment for criminals, illegal firearms possession, and illicit drug trafficking.
He urged members of the public to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information to strengthen ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and security of lives and property across the state.
