Omo-Agege Commends Iyovwaye For Exemplary Rotary Tenure In Warri
You Led That Club Not As A Title, But As A Calling’ – Former Deputy Senate President
Former Deputy President of the 9th Senate and Obarisi of Urhoboland, *Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, CFR, KSJI*, has congratulated the Delta State governorship candidate of Nigeria Democratic Congress, Dcn. Chris Iyovwaye on the successful completion of his tenure as President of the Rotary Club of Warri.
In a personal statement issued on Friday, Omo-Agege described Iyovwaye’s one-year stewardship as “leadership measured not by applause, but by impact.”
“Chris, you led that Club not as a title, but as a calling. In one year, you turned Rotary’s motto, *‘Service Above Self,’* from words on a banner into projects in communities,” the statement read.
Senator Omo-Agege noted that Iyovwaye’s administration focused on areas of direct benefit to families across Delta State, particularly in water, health, and sustainable livelihoods.
“What stood out most was the spirit you brought to the work: humility without weakness, vision without noise, and discipline without self-promotion. You raised the bar for the Rotary Club of Warri, and in doing so, you reminded us all that institutions grow stronger when they are led by men who serve first,” he said.

The former Deputy Senate President further stated that Delta State needs leaders who understand that “public trust is earned in small, consistent acts of service,” expressing confidence that the principles Iyovwaye applied in Rotary will serve him well in larger responsibilities ahead, especially as Governor of Delta State.
“I celebrate you today, my brother. May God grant you renewed strength, sound health, and open doors for greater service to our dear Delta and Nigeria,” Omo-Agege concluded.
FULL TEXT OF THE STATEMENT
*CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO DCN. CHRIS IYOVWAYE ON A TENURE WELL SERVED AS PRESIDENT OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF WARRI*
It is with sincere admiration that I congratulate *Dcn. Chris Iyovwaye* on the successful completion of your tenure as President of the Rotary Club of Warri.
Chris, you led that Club not as a title, but as a calling. In one year, you turned Rotary’s motto, *“Service Above Self,”* from words on a banner into projects in communities. You chose to invest energy where it mattered most — water, health, and sustainable livelihoods for families across Delta. That is leadership measured not by applause, but by impact.
What stood out most was the spirit you brought to the work: humility without weakness, vision without noise, and discipline without self-promotion. You raised the bar for the Rotary Club of Warri, and in doing so, you reminded us all that institutions grow stronger when they are led by men who serve first.
As someone who has watched your trajectory, I have no doubt that the same principles you applied in Rotary will continue to serve you and our people as you take on larger responsibilities. Delta needs leaders who understand that public trust is earned in small, consistent acts of service.
I celebrate you today, my brother. May God grant you renewed strength, sound health, and open doors for greater service to our dear Delta and Nigeria.
*Well done, and congratulations.*
*Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, CFR, KSJI*
