Professor Alloh Says DELSU Law Faculty Has Recorded Major Academic Milestones Under Her Watch, Lauds VC

The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Delta State University (DELSU), Oleh Campus, Professor (Mrs.) Beauty Alloh, has highlighted the remarkable academic progress recorded by the faculty during her tenure, attributing the achievements to the dedication of staff and the support of the university’s management under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba.

In an exclusive interview with Oasis Magazine on Thursday in Abraka, Professor Alloh described her journey as Dean as smooth and rewarding, noting that the Vice-Chancellor’s administration has consistently provided the support needed for the faculty to excel.

She explained that complaints and concerns brought by students to the Vice-Chancellor are usually referred to the faculty for review and appropriate recommendations, a process she said has strengthened effective administration and ensured prompt resolution of issues.

According to the Dean, the Faculty of Law has witnessed tremendous academic growth, with several lecturers successfully obtaining doctoral degrees while many others have been promoted to higher academic ranks.

Among those she mentioned were Dr. Bernice God-Ogechi, Mrs. Eda, Dr. Enyiring, Dr. Gavin, Dr. Maxin Oruma, Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ughelli Branch, Dr. Ejumafuwe Tiger and Dr. Osai, among others.

Professor Alloh described Professor Asagba as an innovative Vice-Chancellor whose leadership has transformed the university, noting that DELSU’s emergence as the best state university in Nigeria reflects the institution’s commitment to academic excellence.

She expressed optimism that the university could rise even further to become the best university in Nigeria if the current pace of development is sustained.

The Dean also prayed for God’s continued guidance, wisdom and peace upon the Vice-Chancellor, expressing confidence that his administration would continue to enjoy stability and record greater achievements.

Speaking of challenges confronting the faculty, Professor Alloh disclosed that preparations are underway for an upcoming accreditation exercise, adding that inadequate funding remains a major concern.

She appealed to the Delta State Government to provide increased financial support to enable the university meet its financial obligations and accreditation requirements.

Professor Alloh further celebrated the outstanding performance of DELSU Law graduates at the Nigerian Law School, revealing that two graduates from the faculty recently earned First Class honours at the Law School after graduating with First Class degrees from DELSU.

She particularly commended one of the female graduates, who received the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN) scholarship while studying at the Faculty of Law in Oleh.

The Dean also urged lecturers to remain committed to quality teaching, mentorship and professionalism, stressing that law lecturers have a responsibility to prepare students for the legal profession, where they would eventually become colleagues.

She expressed confidence that with sustained commitment from staff, students and the university management, the Faculty of Law would continue to strengthen its reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading law faculties.
