Tinubu Appoints Fayose, 25 Others To Key Federal Agencies

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 persons into the boards and leadership of 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions, with former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, appointed as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Fayose will head the REA board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as members and non-executive directors. The agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors will complete the board.

The President also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa (rtd) as Chairman of the National Salaries and Wages Commission, alongside eight other officials, including former House of Representatives member, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, who will serve as Secretary of the Commission.

Others appointed into the commission are Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun, Yakubu Umar Barde, Dr Mai Adamu Yau, Ginika Florence Tor, Engineer Lawrence Okoh and Bello Morenike Iyabode.

In another development, Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who had earlier been appointed Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), was redeployed as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.

President Tinubu also named Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), and Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

Also appointed was Engineer Julius Oloro as Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), replacing the late Dr A.R. Kamal.

The President further constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, appointing Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman, with Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola serving as board members.

Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was earlier reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF).

To fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mathias Byuan as Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), President Tinubu appointed Gisaor Vincent Iorja, an economist, legal scholar and Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).

According to the Presidency, all the appointments take immediate effect.
