The Delta State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, has called for reconciliation and greater unity within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ogboru made the call at the weekend when he received a delegation of members of the defunct Legacy ADC executive in Delta Central, led by the senatorial leader, who formally realigned with the current ADC political structure.

Speaking at his country home in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area, Ogboru described the return of the former members as timely, saying the party needed collective action and commitment to confront the political challenges ahead.

He said the task before the ADC was greater than individual ambitions and interests, adding that members must work together to build a formidable political structure capable of mobilising voters across Delta State.

The former Legacy ADC member also urged party faithful to put past disagreements behind them and focus on strengthening the party in preparation for the 2027 elections.

“I want to encourage the returning members to feel free to access my office and make serious efforts towards their full reintegration into the party structure, and put the past behind them,” he said.

Ogboru further urged the returning members to reach out to other former Legacy ADC members who were yet to return to the fold.

“I also want to advise you to focus on bringing more Legacy members who are yet to return into the fold. As we do this, we are also mobilising voters for the success of the party in the forthcoming general elections,” he added.

He expressed satisfaction with the realignment, describing the returning members as brothers and sisters whose experience and commitment would be valuable to the ADC’s campaign ahead of 2027.

Ogboru stressed that the opposition must remain united, focused and resolute if it is to mount an effective challenge to the ruling party in Delta State.
