DELSU Cracks Down On Sign-Out Parties, Violators Risk Rustication For Two Semesters

The management of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has announced a ban on all sign-out parties and other forms of unruly celebrations within the university’s campuses, warning that students who violate the directive risk rustication for up to two semesters.

The directive was contained in the University’s Official Bulletin released on Monday, August 3, 2026, and is aimed at maintaining peace, safety, and order during the ongoing semester and final-year examinations.

According to the bulletin, the decision followed security concerns and intelligence reports indicating the need to prevent activities capable of disrupting the academic environment or endangering lives and property.

The university specifically urged final-year students and other members of the university community to refrain from organizing or participating in sign-out parties and any other celebration that could compromise campus security.

Management emphasized that such acts constitute misconduct under the Students’ Union Constitution and other extant university regulations, adding that offenders are liable to disciplinary sanctions, including rustication for up to two semesters.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel O. Asagba, has directed the university’s security personnel to arrest and hand over any student found violating the directive for appropriate disciplinary action.

The university further advised students to comply fully with the directive and conduct themselves responsibly throughout the examination period to ensure a peaceful and secure campus environment.
