DELSU VC Celebrates Delta At 35, Commends Oborevwori’s Leadership

The Vice-Chancellor of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Prof. Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, has congratulated the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, and the people of the state on the 35th anniversary of the creation of Delta State.

Prof. Asagba, in a goodwill message issued on behalf of the University Council, Management, Senate, staff and students, described the anniversary as a remarkable milestone in the history of the state, which was created on August 27, 1991.

According to him, Delta State has, over the past three and a half decades, evolved through resilience, determination and a sustained commitment to development.

He noted that from its formative years under military administration to successive democratic administrations, the state had made significant strides in infrastructure, education, healthcare, commerce, agriculture and human capital development.

The Vice-Chancellor acknowledged the contributions of successive administrations, public servants, communities and citizens to the development of the state, stressing that the progress recorded over the years was not only about physical transformation but also a reflection of the resilience, enterprise and aspirations of Deltans.

Prof. Asagba particularly commended the administration of Governor Oborevwori for its continued commitment to consolidating the gains of the past while charting a progressive path for the future through the implementation of the M.O.R.E. Agenda.

He said the agenda, anchored on creating opportunities and improving the quality of life of Deltans, had provided renewed momentum for development across the state.

“Today, under the purposeful leadership of the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the state continues to witness renewed momentum in development through the implementation of the M.O.R.E. Agenda,” he stated.

The DELSU Vice-Chancellor also saluted the government and people of Delta State for the remarkable journey over the last 35 years, noting that the collective contributions of Deltans had remained central to the state’s growth and development.

As the state marked the historic anniversary, Prof. Asagba expressed optimism that the next chapter of Delta State’s journey would bring greater development, unity, prosperity and opportunities for all Deltans.

“Cheers to 35! Three and a Half Decades of Progress. A Future of Greater Possibilities,” he concluded.
