Okorocha To Buhari: Respond To Obasanjo’s Letter

President Muhammadu Buhari has been advised by Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, to take a dignified stand and respond to the scathing letter written by ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, Daily Trust reports.

The governor made his comments during a chat with newsmen in Owerri, the state capital, on Monday, February 5.

Okorocha stated that if Buhari remained silent, it could translate into meaning that he was agreeing with what the former president had said.

The governor urged the president to put to rest, all the doubts that the letter had raised, by responding to it personally.

He stated that a response would enable all those involved in the presidential seat to take action, even as he noted that the letter required a high level response as it was written at a high level.

However, the governor reiterated that he would not seek the nation’s highest political office if the president decides to re-contest.

Okorocha also disclosed that he would confer the state’s highest award on 42 distinguished indigenes, for their contribution to society.

He also stated that he would soon unveil the statues erected for past governors of the state.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that former President Olusegun Obasanjo said that his recent open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari was not borne out of malice or ‘bad belle’ but out of his deep concern for the situation in the country.

He said this at the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oke Ilewo area of Abeokuta, shortly after the Coalition for Nigeria Movement was inaugurated in Ogun state, and he was registered as a member of the movement, after formally filling the registration form.
