Ethiope East LGA: The Town Hall Meeting Was Successful, But Too Brief– PG, Okpara

The President-General of Okpara, Mr. Augustine Akatugba, has said that the town hall meeting organised by the government of Delta State in Ethiope East Local Government Area yesterday was successful, but too brief and did not allow himself and a few others speak on some issues of concern to his community.
Mr. Akatugba who spoke to journalists at Isiokolo after the programme, added that he however wrote down the issues on paper and have handed them over to the Governor, and hoped that they will be looked into.
He wondered why the issue of the dualisation of the Eku-PTI road was not mentioned by those who spoke.

“I wanted to ask the Governor what he is doing about the abandoned Eku-PTI dualised road.
“I am speaking as an Agbon man. That road cuts across Okpe and Agbon kingdoms. So, if I am speaking about Eku-PTI road, I am speaking on behalf of Agbon as a whole.”
On his general impression about the programme, he said: “The meeting was a good one, but there was no time to flog the issues.”
In the same vein, Chief Felix O Okotie, who represented the PG of Ovre, commended Hon. Chief Faith Majemite, the Executive Chairman of the local government area over her address, saying that she touched major areas and issues facing Ethiope East and Ovre Eku in particular, but,  alleged that the moderator during the town hall meeting did not allow the people from communities in Agbon Kingdom ask question or contribute.
He said: “Today at the Delta State Town Hall Meeting, the Hon. Commissioner for Information refused all communities from Agbon Kingdom from asking questions or making speeches, except for the local government Chairman, Hon Faith Majemite who in her speech spoke a major part of the minds of the people. The views of  Agbon people were not heard, while he repeatedly gave the microphone to people from the two Abraka Kingdoms.”
