FUPRE Launches New BSc Programmes For Science, Non-Science Students

The Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun (FUPRE) has announced new academic programmes for undergraduates.

These additions cut across science and business-related fields, giving more students a way into the oil, gas and broader energy industries.

This step is part of FUPRE’s push to stay relevant and meet new demands in both research and practical fields.

According to an official bulletin by the institution, “whether you lean more toward lab coats or boardrooms, there’s now a place for you.”

The Powerhouse for Non-Science Innovators
Not from a science background but passionate about the energy industry? FUPRE has you covered. This college now offers four new B.Sc. programmes designed for non-science students who want to lead, manage, and innovate in the oil, gas, and allied sectors.

Basic entry rules
To apply, you need:
• At least five credit passes in your O’Level exams (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB), including English and Maths.

• Correct UTME subject combinations (listed below).

• A-Level, ND, or similar qualifications if you’re going through Direct Entry.

B.Sc. Biochemistry and Microbiology

• O’Level: English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics

• UTME: English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics

• Direct Entry: A-Level passes in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics

B.Sc. Petroleum Chemistry
• O’Level: English, Maths, Chemistry, Physics and one other science subject

• UTME: English, Maths, Chemistry, Physics

• Direct Entry: A-Level passes in Chemistry and either Physics or Maths

College of Petroleum Administration & Management requirements
B.Sc. Petroleum Information Management
