Member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Lovette Idisi, has commended the Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, over his backing for a free and fair primary for aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the constituency, vying to represent the area in the Green Chambers.
Speaking to Oasis Magazine (OM) during an online chat, Hon. Idisi added that he is looking forward to free and fair primaries, saying that he was glad that the Delta State Governor condemned name-droppings and denied endorsing anyone to fly the party’s flag for the House of Reps during 2019 elections.
He said: “The Governor condemned name-dropping and described those that use this strategy as cheap politicians.
“The political movers and shakers in Ethiope Federal Constituency were in Asaba today to pay a courtesy visit to Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa. The likes of Chief Mike Adiotomre; Chief Ochuku Unuagba; Chief Evance Ochuko Ivwurie, Member representing Ethiope East Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly; Chief Faith Majemite, Chairman, Ethiope East Local Government Area; Chief Fred Sowho; Mrs. Ovie Oghara; Abraham Ojougoro and a host of others were in the entourage that were in Osadebey House in Asaba to visit the governor.”
According to him, the presence of Chief Mrs. Delma, the 1st President-General of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, Newyork in the entourage, was a sign that members of the constituency in the diaspora were fully in support of his second term ambition.
A source at the meeting said the governor stressed that there would be no endorsement of any aspirant, as they will all get a level playing field and that all delegates must go to the field.
