DPO’s Redeployment: Investigate Oliver Ofejiro, His Sponsors, APC Chieftain Tells IGP

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Warri South Constituency II, Comrade Ovoke Ejoba Omagbemi, has called on the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Khoutoun Idris, to investigate Oliver Ofejiro and his sponsors, who wrote a petition against the Divisional Police Officer (DPO)”B” Division in Warri, CSP Anieteh Eyoh.

Omagbemi made the call in Warri, saying that the purported petition instigated the redeployment of the DPO from “B” Division Warri to “B” Division, Asaba the Delta State capital.

Omagbemi contested the Local Government election in Warri South as the Chairmanship Candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN in 2015, accused Oliver Ofejiro of allegedly dealing with “Yahoo Boys” in the area.

He said: “They have been paying him to do this thing. He has done it before and we have so many facts against him.”

Omagbemi disclosed that the Chairmen of the various communities that made up Warri South, in a petition, signed and sealed was sent to the IGP’s Office as well as the Delta State Police Command.

He said their demand is that, CSP Anieteh Eyoh be redeployed back to complete the good works which he started three years ago when he was newly posted to Warri.

He said: “One is to finish the station project which is said to be the best in West Africa and secondly to come and continue his anti-corruption war in the area.”

Omagbemi said the redeployed DPO chased armed robbers within the communities and its environs away.

“For the past three years, we have not been experiencing robbery, snatching of cars and kidnapping in the vicinity. Such a man should come back and complete his good work which he has been doing.”

Omagbemi who was also the Vice Chairmanship Candidate of the APC in the 2018 Local Government elections in Warri South, said CSP Anieteh Eyoh is at peace with the communities in the area, adding: “We cannot afford to lose that kind of man.”

Omagbemi argued that civilians like Oliver Ofejiro who are not resident in Warri South are in no position to petition CSP Anieteh Eyoh against the State Command.

“For a civilian like Oliver Ofejiro to be writing a petition against a DPO and the Police is taking that petition to be a very serious thing. I think I am very disappointed at the Police Force because a Police should not be a parastatal of civilians. They have their way of doing things. They should investigate before doing things.”

At the time of filing this report, a new DPO, SP Ebi Orubiri has taken over from CSP Anieteh Eyoh in Warri. He resumed duty yesterday.
