UPU Congratulates Buhari, Agege, Waive Over Election Victory

–Urge Deltans To Vote For Ogboru During Delta Guber Polls

The National Executive Committee of the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, Worldwide, the umbrella body for all Urhobos, has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Rev. Ejiroghene Waive over their election victory at the just concluded Presidential/National Assembly elections.

Senator Omo-Agege is the Senator-elect, Delta Central Senatorial district and also the incumbent representing the area, Rev. Waive is the House of Reps member elect, Udu, Ughelli North and South Federal Constituency.

In a press statement signed by Engr. (Chief) Joe Orode Omene JP, President General and Martins Ahweyevu Mukoro Esq. LL.M+, National Secretary, UPU added: “Before the presidential and NASS elections, the UPU as part of its mandate pursuant to Article 2 of its Constitution to give political direction to Urhobo people, endorsed the candidacy of Buhari and the super performing Senator who represents the Delta Central Senatorial district.

“The UPU notes with pride that the Urhobo Nation did not disappoint its illustrious son, Senator Ovie Omo Agege and the president as they reelected the president and Senator and contributed 25% of valid votes cast for the president in Delta State.”

UPU enjoined the president to carry Urhobo people along in all spheres of political appointments in the next dispensation.

They said: “We want an Urhobo minister, chairmen, board members and heads of departments and agencies. Urhobo land is blessed with seasoned politicians and technocrats who can make positive difference in Buhari’s ‘Next Level’ dispensation.”

Furthermore, they said: “The president should be wary of opportunistic ethnic nationality factional leaders who did not have the courage and conviction to endorse Mr. President before the election but now gleefully bask in the euphoria of victory.”

Continuing, they called on Deltans to vote for its endorsed candidate, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru on March 9 during the guber polls in the state.
