Ex-PDP Chair Allegedly Fingered In Murder Case

A former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ethiope East Local Government Area in Delta State, Dr. Kings Okpako (popularly known as Kuti), has been alleged to be involved in the murder of an 18-year-old lady, Favour Ogheneyenrowho Sunday, who was recently found dead and tied in a sack, popularly referred to as ‘Ghana-must-go’ bag that was dumped few weeks ago behind Ozoro park in Abraka, Delta State.

You will recall that in a recent publication by Oasis Magazine (OM), it was reported that the deceased, a day before her death, left with a male friend whose identity was unknown to her elder sister, Maureen Sunday, who was present when they both left.

OM learnt that some days ago, through the aid of a tracking machine, the said male was arrested in Abraka and identified as Henry Ikechukwu.

Reliable sources disclosed that during interrogations by the police, he confessed that he was the male friend that left with the deceased on the said day before she was murdered, but delivered her to Dr. Kings for yet-to-be unraveled reasons.

According to him, this is the third lady he has handed over to him (Kuti), but the first death recorded so far.

This lead led the IG Monitoring Detectives from Abuja to lure Dr. Kings to Abraka under the guise that one of his properties was about to be bought.

Kuti was arrested at 11 p.m yesterday in Abraka and at the time of filing this report was still in police custody with Henry.

Kuti has however denied the allegations but owned up that he knows Henry.

Our sources added that when Kuti’s line was retrieved, Henry’s phone number was discovered to have been saved in his phone as ‘Nice Boy’.

We also gathered that the Inspector General of Police (IG), Mohammed Adamu is very interested in the matter and consequently directed the Delta State Commissioner of Police (CP), Adeyinka Adeleke to intensify efforts on the issue.

OM can authoritatively report that the CP made a surprise visit to Abraka Division today where he interrogated Dr. Kings.

When contacted, the Commissioner of Police said they were still interrogating the suspects, adding that it was too premature to come up with an official statement on the matter.

He said: “From my finding, the boy is like an errand boy to the principal suspect.”

Speaking further, he promised to get to the root of the matter, saying that justice will take its course, as he urged members of the public to be calm and await the outcome of the investigation.

Meanwhile, at the time of filing this report, a press release from the Delta State Police Command, dated 18th June, 2019, and signed by the Police PRO, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya said: “A sack bag containing a lifeless body of a teenage girl of about 18 years was found in a heap of dust bin in Abraka.

“On inspection of the corpse by the police, marks of violence were obvious on the deceased neck which implied she could have been killed by unknown person or persons. Subsequently, in the course of Police investigation, the deceased male friend one Henry Ikechukwu, aged 32 years old who was last seen with the deceased on 17th of June, 2019 and had been on the run since the incident, was tracked down and arrested on 28th of June, 2019.

“On interrogation, he confessed to have invited the deceased for an outing on the 17th of June, 2019, from where he lured her and handed her over to a prominent chief in the same Abraka community, who gave him the assignment to get the deceased for him.

“The said chief has also been arrested and the two suspects are presently in Police custody pending investigation. They will soon appear in court immediately after the completion of the ongoing Police investigation.”
