UPU Inaugurates Female Wing Of Youth Body



-As Omene Charges Them To Defend Urhobo Interest

-The Idea Is Long Overdue, Says Anidi

The Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), led by Chief (Engr.) Joe Omene, has successfully inaugurated the female wing (Emete) of the youth body (Ighele) to assist in piloting the affairs of the youth wing.

The auspicious occasion took place on Sunday, June 30, 2019, at the Paragon Holiday Resort, Mosogar, Delta State.

Chief Omene, during his address, urged the ‘Emete’ group to be good ambassadors of Urhobo ethnic nationality.

He charged them to go and defend Urhobo interest, adding that he was very impressed with the caliber of persons that made the list of executive members.

According to him, they are not expected to work in isolation, but team up with the male folks to enable the youth arm of UPU attain greater heights and thus contribute to the overall well-being of the UPU parent body and Urhobo Nation.

On her part, the President of the female wing, Onajite Efedede, said that with their inauguration, better things will come to Urhobo Nation.

Her words: “It is said that behind every successful man is a woman,” noting that “behind every successful Urhobo Nation there is the ‘Emete wing’.

“One of the things we will do is to give attention to females,” stressing that they have been neglected by the society. We will also make the female wing more vibrant than how it has been.”

Also, the President of the youth wing, Comr. Louis Anidi, commended the National Executive Council (NEC) for the initiative, saying that the move is long overdue.

He said: “It is a welcome idea. They will work hand in hand with us. Those inaugurated today from what I observed are all sound graduates and I know they will bring in their experience to the youth body.”

He called on them to work as a team with the youth body and desist from gossip, adding that gossiping was common with ladies.

The list of the inaugurated executive includes: Efedede Onajite, Omemine Akpude, Tessy Edjekohwo, Emuobor Ighoyotah Esonbi, Ediri Godwin Oyibo, Patience Ogba, Voke Esiri Emokpa and Molly Emuobor Obukohwo.

Other executive members are Akpomedaye Efedede, Orovwigho Oghare, Oghenemaro Vivian, Okonji Glory, Rukky Akpobroka, Blessing Hans, Ogheneochuko Umukoro, Ogwu Kevwe Rita.
