Okowa Releases Final Batch Of Ten Commissioners

The State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has forwarded the names of ten nominees for appointment as Commissioners and members of the State Executive Council to the State House of Assembly. 

The names of the nominees were contained in a letter to the House by the governor and read by the Speaker, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori who presided over Thursday’s plenary. 

The names of the nominees are Mr. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, Mr Ifeanyi Egwunyenga, Dr. Mordi Ononye, Honourable Ovie Oghoore and Prince Emmanuel Amgbabuba. 

Others are Mrs. Gbubemi Ikolo, Mr. Matthew Tsekiri, Mr. Christian Onogba, Mr. Omamofe Joseph Pirah and Chief Henry Sakpra.

The Governor in the letter said the nomination was in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 192 sub section 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.

He said he had earlier nominated fifteen persons for confirmation of the House as Commissioners and members of the State Executive Council hence was forwarding ten additional persons for confirmation by the House.

The Majority Leader, Hon. Tim Owhefere moved for the House to receive the letter for further consideration and seconded by Honourable Oboro Preyor. 

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori directed the nominees to submit thirty five copies of their curriculum vitae to the office of the Clerk on or before Monday, July 22, 2019 and should appear for screening on Tuesday, July 23, 2019.

Also at plenary the Speaker also read a letter from the governor reconstituting the Governing Board of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency. 

The names of the nominees are Chief Ighoyota Amori as Chairman, a former member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Onyemaechi Mrakpor as Director General. 

Other members of the Agency are Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka, Honourable Blessing Adidi and Dr Isaac Wilkie.

The Major Leader, Hon. Tim Owhefere moved for the House to receive the letter for further consideration and seconded by Hon Shedrack Rapu. 

The Speaker directed the nominees to submit thirty five copies of their curriculum vitae to the office of the Clerk on or before Monday July 22, 2019 and should appear for screening on Wednesday July 24, 2019.

Also, the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has reconstituted the Governing Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission DESOPADEC. 

The names of the nominees were contained in a letter sent to the House by the Governor and read by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori at Thursday’s plenary.

The nominees for appointment into the governing board of DESOPADEC are a former member of the State Legislature representing Warri North constituency, Honourable Michael Diden as Chairman, Honourable Askia Ogieh as Managing Director, Mr. Lucky Shedrach Agediga, Honourable John Nani, Honourable Daniel Mayuku and Barrister Leonard Anoka as Executive Directors.

Other members of the DESOPADEC Governing Board are Mr. Griftson Omatsuli, Dr Paul Oweh, Chief Kent Okiemute and Honourable Joyce Overah.

Also nominated as members by the Governor are Architect Anslem Nwokenye, Mr. Paul Bebenimibo, Mr. Ikechukwu Akozor, Chief Vincent Oyibode and Dr. Ossai  Ochonogor Samuel. 

According to the Governor, the reconstitution followed the expiration of the DESOPADEC Governing Board and in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section Seven Sub Section 1A of the DESOPADEC Amendment law 2019.

The Majority Leader, Honourable Tim Owhefere moved a motion for the House to receive the letter for further consideration and seconded by Honourable Emeka Nwaobi.

The Speaker also directed the nominees to submit thirty five copies of their curriculum vitae to the office of the Clerk on or before Monday July 22, 2019 and appear for screening on Tuesday, July 23, 2019.

Meanwhile, the Governor also constituted the Governing Board of the newly established Warri Uvwie and Environs Special Areas Development Agency.

The names of the nominees as contained in a letter to the House by the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa are Dr. Joseph Otumara as Chairman, Chief Ovuozourie Macaulay as Director General. 

Other members of the Agency are Dr. Sunny Ezonfafe, Mrs. Amaka Egboro and Prince Kelly Otuedon. 

The governor said the constitution of the Agency was in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section Four sub section 2A of the law establishing the Agency. 

After receiving the letter following a motion by the Majority Leader, Honourable Tim Owhefere, seconded by Honourable Emmanuel Sinebe, the Speaker directed the nominees to submit thirty five copies of their curriculum vitae to the office of the Clerk on or before Monday July  22, 2019 and appear for screening on Wednesday July 24, 2019.

The Governor also reconstituted the Local Government Service Commission with Honourable Joesph Otirhe as Chairman.

Pastor Chukwuka John Greatman as first member, Honourable Katherine Ilolo as second member and Mrs Rose Asore as third member. 

According to the letter, Governor Okowa said the reconstitution of the Commission followed the expiration of the former members and in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section Eighty One Sub Section Two of the Delta State Local Government Service Commission Law 2004.

The Speaker,  Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori  directed nominees to submit thirty five copies of their curriculum vitae  to the office of the Clerk on or before Monday July 22, 2019 and should appear for screening on Wednesday, 24, 2019.
