Urhobo Renaissance Movement To Hold Inaugural Public Lecture October 1

The Urhobo Renaissance Movement (URM) will on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, hold her inaugural public lecture with theme: ‘Urhobo Rebirth.’

At the programme scheduled to hold at Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Conference Center, Effurun, Delta State, a lecture titled: “A Renaissance in the Urhobo Nation and the Quest for Leadership” will be delivered by a frontline Law scholar, Professor Joseph Abugu of the University of Lagos.

Other dignitaries expected at the event to be chaired by Professor Sam Oyovbaire, former Minister of Information, include: HRM Emmanuel Sideso, Abe 1, Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom (Chief Host); Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Deputy Senate President (Special Guest of Honour) and Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor, Delta State (Special Guest of Honour).

The organizers of the event believe the programme will give redirection to one of Nigeria’s most resourceful and dynamic ethnic group, the Urhobo Nation and at the same time tackle some pressing national issues.

URM, a gathering of Urhobo sons and daughters from diverse backgrounds is committed to giving direction to the Urhobo ethnic nationality of over 5, 000, 000 people.

The body was founded by Professor Hope Eghagha of the University of Lagos, has over 250 members and still counting.

According to the founder, URM “is a pan-Urhobo and bi-partisan body that seeks to project Urhobo in national and international discourse.”
