The Chairman of the Idisi Foundation in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, immediate past member representing the good people of Ethiope Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Chairman, Governing Council, College of Education, Mosogar, Rt. Hon. Chief Barr. Lovette Edirin Idisi, the Osuotu ro’de of Agbon Kingdom, recently hosted stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in his country home, Oviorie-Ovu to a sumptuous breakfast party recently.
In his welcome speech, Hon. Idisi noted that the need for Ovu people to be united and formidable at all times informed his decision to convene the maiden meeting to ensure that PDP in Ovu is indivisible.
He noted that the importance of unity in Ovu cannot be overemphasized, adding that the performance of the party in recent times was largely due to the existence of different interests within the party in the area.
The former lawmaker and a legal luminary, later went historical when he cited the then popular Ovu slogan where their forefathers usually echoed “No Division” irrespective of affiliations, but wondered why the present generation finds it difficult to follow in their footsteps.
Continuing, Honorable Idisi urged members of the party in particular to always see themselves as one big family and consequently sheathe their swords in order to re-position the party with the view to making it more formidable before the next election.
His words: “I want to specially thank you for honoring our invitation. The reason for this get-together is nothing but to foster unity among Ovu people. If there is anything worth taking home from this gathering is that Ovu is moving forward. “We will continue to dine and wine together and also speak with one voice as one formidable and unified Ward. The time of drama has past; we want to carry everybody along and nobody would be shortchanged. The days of betrayal are over; once again, the summary of this important gathering is for the unity and oneness of Ovu people.”
In the same vein, Chief Bernard Edewor, PDP leader Ethiope East, saluted the courage and wisdom of Hon. Idisi for his proactiveness in convening the all important meeting especially with the Ward congresses around the corner.
Speaking further, Chief Edewor highlighted the importance of unity as the driving force of any political party that is ready to win in any election. In their separate addresses, Hon. Felix Erhimedafe, the chairman of the party in the area, Hon. Sunday Onoriode, the State Organising Secretary of the party and others dwelt extensively on the same unity of purpose for the advancement of Ovu politics.
