Professor Akporhonor Gives Out Daughter In Marriage

By Daniel Dafe
A Professor of Analytical and Environmental Chemistry with the Department of Chemistry in the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Professor Temi Akporhonor, has given out his daughter, Oro, in marriage to Tega, son of a former Head of Department of Accounting and Finance in the said university, Mr. & Mrs. Wilson Erhirhie.
The Solemnization of holy matrimony for the lovers took place at the weekend at Ufuoma Baptist Church, Efurun, Delta State.
While delivering the homily, a cleric, Pastor Francis Yusuf, noted that there was more to marriage than the celebration and glamour.
He noted that without depending on Christ, every marriage is bound to fail, as he frowned at the increasing rate of divorce, which he said was against the wish of God.
Yusuf charged the new couple to love each other and enable a strong bond without undue interference.
The wedding reception for guests followed immediately at Precious Hall, Manuex Event Centre in the said town.
Oasis Magazine (OM) had an exclusive chat with the bride’s father.
While describing the event as lovely, Prof. Akporhonor said he was very excited because it was the first time for him to experience giving out his daughter in marriage.
The university don described Tega as a gentleman going by his several meetings with him, as he advised the couple to learn from the mistakes of their parents and avoid every form of threat to marital bliss.
Furthermore, he wished the couple long life and prosperity.
The glamorous ceremony was attended by dignitaries from all walks of life, with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Andy Egwunyenga, leading Principal Officers and top officials of the University to the event.
Also present were Mr. Ovie Agas, the immediate past Secretary to the Delta State Government, Justice Marshall Umukoro, Chief Judge of Delta State represented by Hon. Justice Obi and Professor Abednego Ekoko, former sole administrator of Delta State University, Abraka.
