Legal Luminary And Former DELSU Head Of Public Law Department, Nwabuoku, Laid To Rest At Okpanam

A legal luminary and former Acting Head of Department of Public Law, Faculty of Law, Delta State University, Abraka (Oleh Campus), Sir Dr. Michael Obiora Ifeanyi Nwabuoku, KSC, JP was laid to rest on Friday in his residence at Ogbeowelle Quarters, Okpanam in Delta State.

This followed a funeral service at St. Andrew ‘ s Anglican Church, Okpanam Area.

Nwabuoku who died in Abraka on 9th December, 2025 at the age of 66 years was born on 10th November, 1959.

Nwabuoku studied Education at the University of Benin, Benin City in Edo State where he obtained the Degree of Bachelor of Education ( B.Ed) in History in 1985.

Also, Nwabuoku studied Law which he read upto Ph. D level. He was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1992.

Furthermore, Nwabuoku was the Principal Partner of Nwabuoku and Nwabuoku ( Anioma chambers) in Asaba. He was an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association ( NBA) Asaba Branch.

Nwabuoku joined the services of the Delta State University , Abraka as a Lecturer 1 in the Faculty of Law, Delta State University, Abraka ( Oleh Campus) in 1998. He rose to become a Senior Lecturer in Law.

Nwabuoku was Acting Head of Department of Public Law, Faculty of Law , Delta State University, Abraka ( Oleh Campus). He lectured Law until his compulsory retirement at the age of 65 years in November 2024. He was on contract employment in the Faculty of Law, Delta State University, Abraka ( Oleh Campus) from November 2024 to November 2025.

Nwabuoku was also an Adjunct Lecturer in Law at the College of Law, Novena University, Ogu me where he was appointed Associate Professor of Law.

Nwabuoku was a great scholar. He has to his credit legal papers in Scopus and other peer reviewed domestic and foreign Journals.

Nwabuoku was a community leader and devout christian. He was a Knight of St. Christopher and Chancellor of the Anglican Communion Asaba Diocese

Nwabuoku left behind a wife, children, grand children, Aunty , brothers and sisters.

Dignitaries who attended the burial included Sir Monday Onyeme, Deputy Governor of Delta State, Rt. Rev. Kingsley Obuh(Bishop, Anglican Communion, Diocese of Asaba), Professor ( Mrs) Beauty Alloh, Professor ACE Abuza, Professor Kingsley Edu, Professor K. O. Mrabure, Dr Peter Gasiokwu, Dr. Garvin Oyibodoro, Dr. J. P. Esavwede, Barr. K.O. Uwubiti and Ms. Okeke.
