Health Monitoring Team Inspects Facilities In Uvwie, Warri South, Ughelli North LGAs

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Health Monitoring to the Governor of Delta State, Dr. Kingsley Amaihunwa has inspected several health facilities in the state.
Amaihunwa was accompanied on the visit by Dr. Michael Nwoko, Dr. Patrick Onwuachi and Dr. Sam Efetobore, all also Senior Special Assistants to the Governor on Health Monitoring.
The team visited major health facilities in Uvwie, Warri South and Ughelli North Local Government Area to assess and appraise the activities of the centres in line with the schedule of their portfolio.
The first point of call during the visit was the Osubi International Airport, Osubi, Uvwie Local Government Area.
According to Amaihunwa, the visit to the said airport was to assess the facilities and equipment installed by the state government for the screening of people entering the state and to interact with health personnel manning the centre to know their challenges and how they are prepared to handle the screening of passengers.
He said: “We are very impressed with the facility on ground and the competency of the health personnel to handle any possible outbreak of the Coronavirus disease.
“Similarly, we also visited the Nigeria Port Authority Clinic, Warri, where we had a good interaction with staff on measures adopted to screen passengers coming into the state through the port. From our interaction, I can say the port’s health officials are well equipped and trained to contain any possible incident of the virus.
“At this point, it should be emphasized that priority is given to the ports because ports are the gateway for entering into the state by foreigners who may have contracted the dreaded virus elsewhere.”
A visit was also made to the Central Hospital, Warri, in Warri South Local Government Area.
There, they encouraged the management and staff to always work as a team and handle patients with love and care while administering treatment.
The team also visited the Zonal Hospital, Ekpan, Uvwie Local Government Area, where they advised staff to always put in their best to ensure optimal performance of the health facility to meet up with the state government’s Universal Health Coverage Policy as contained in the ‘Stronger Delta’ agenda of Governor Okowa’s administration.
Also, a visit was made to the Government General Hospital, Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area.
At the Government General Hospital, Agbarho, the members of staff were cautioned against the collection of illegal fees from patients and also advised to keep their records in order to avoid misplacing medical records of patients.
Speaking to journalists after the visit, Amaihunwa said: “In all the health facilities visited, I admonished staff and management of the facilities to be up and doing so as to enable Deltans and residents of Delta State enjoy the benefits of the state government’s healthcare policy.
“I also used the opportunity to call on all residents of Delta state, especially persons in the informal sector such as the artisans, farmers and market women to take advantage of the Delta State Contributory Health Insurance scheme to enroll for the premium package to avoid the use of out of packet funds for medical care.”
Amaihunwa equally commended His Excellency, Sen. (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State, for his passion and commitment to the good health and well-being of Deltans.
Furthermore, he thanked his boss for creating the office of Health Monitoring, adding that the Governor has continually given the team the needed support to enable them monitor, assess, evaluate, appraise and report any issue bordering on effective operations of all the health facilities in the state so as to fast track the Universal Healthcare Policy in the state.
